Recruiting

Not too much going on this weekend compared to last weeks blockbuster But there is one 4 star TE recruit currently visiting:

Mike Heuerman 6’4″ 215 lbs from Naples Fla–currently interested in ND, OHIO STATE, LSU AND MIAMI. I think this is a longshot since his brother plays for Ohio State. Would be a nice pickup but even if he commits scumbag Urban will be all over him until NSD.

In any event we already have commit Matuska who could play TE even though he was recruited as a DE.

Right now ND looks in good shape as long as we keep what we have.

That must have been some Junior weekend as Corey Robinson commits to ND.

6’4″ 190 lb WR from Texas–son of David Robinson from Navy and the NBA–real nice pickup.

That makes 9 in and maybe 11 positions left for this class lets hope ILB prospect also from Texas jumps in soon.

ND completes it’s OL recruitment of 4 by landing Mike McGlinchy a massive 6’9″ 280 pounder from good old Phila Pa.

So we have:

Steve Elmer
Colin McGovern
Hunter Bivin
Mike McGlinchy

WOW !!!!!!

NOW LETS KEEP THAT BASTARD URBAN MEYER AWAY FROM THEM.

Terrific Junior weekend for the coaching staff.

Commit #6 QB

Irish Sports Daily reporting ND landed QB Malik Zaire 6’1″ 190 lb from Bishop Alter HS Ohio 4 star–also offered by Ohio State and others but anytime we can stiff Urban is really good news–that probably wraps up QB recruiting.

I have a bone to pick with all the other sites–I really like Carlo Calobresse–I also really like Dan Fox but as an OLB. DANNY SPOND should be hy-brid Safety. I want another hammer opposite Teo–obvious passing downs I’d play all safeties–we have plenty.

Check out again video from und.com on previous posts–granted this is just a peek at practices but what stood out to me was # 59-Jarret Grace very impressive, 72- Nick Martin,74–Lombard, # 66 Watt, # 41 Farley and an excellent battle #70 Zack Martin vs # 89 Kap Moore.

As mentioned little to go on and I want names on jerseys and jumbotron for 2012 season–Rockne would do it in a NY minute–he was an innovator but most important a promoter.

ND Adds 2 Commits On Junior Day

ND helps itself with 2 Blue Chip Offensive Lineman Commits to go along with Steve Elmer. These guys had offers from everywhere. Helped that both grew up ND fans.

# 4 Colin McGovern 6’7″ 285lbs from Illinois

# 5 Hunter Bivin 6’7″ 290 lbs from Kentucky

Both will probably arrive at ND over 300 lbs.

Feeling a lot better about this position–believe ND wants to add one more OL.

Seems all the other recruits had a good time also.

Total now at 5 with approx 15 to go. And the 5 we have look really solid.

Spring Football 2012

Well, as expected the first day of Spring Practice saw lots of guys running around and of course everybody was better conditioned, excited and raring to go. But then again we have been hearing that for 20 years.

We saw receivers catch the ball, runners run and some linemen lined up. While all this doesn’t mean much–you are not going to see or learn a hell of a lot until the Blue Gold finale. Hopefully we’ll see the OL go against the DL one on one like last year.

For now the OL looks like T-Martin, G-Watt C-Golic, G Lombard and T-Nicols

Actually saw Cam McDaniel as a CB intercept a pass–he actually turned around to do it.

The mammoth RT Tate Nichols wore about 6 braces on his legs.

QB’s–Kiel just throwing–which reminded me back to Claussen’s first year and the disaster that followed. He was the most gifted and should have started from game 1 but remember the OL was really awful and remained that way for his 3 years at ND.

I want to mention here for my personal Hall Of Shame– John Sullivan, an overrated All American candidate now with Vikings who purposely didn’t block and often purposely sailed the ball over Claussen’s head when he was in shotgun formation. Weis should have benched him and I’m disappointed in Charlie for that

So, expect dribs and squibs meaning nothing until B/G game.

Big recruiting weekend–need some commits out of this.
