Bye Weekend
With ND taking a week off there were plenty of games worth watching. So I checked out Pitt vs Virginia Tech for awhile – Pitt is not that bad, something to follow in the coming weeks.
Checked out the beat down Texas put on Oklahoma – and for you Tommy haters, Casey McCoy Texas QB threw 2, that’s right 2 pick 6’s for Oklahoma TD’s to linemen no less. The magician QB Johnny Football actually had a pick in the end zone when A&M were close to scoring – this guy really is good. Oh, all day Saturday I saw QB’s throwing picks, so it’s just not Tommy, it happens – a lot. Finally, Oregon – so effortless for them to score.
Now coming up we have a rejuvenated USC and ND better be prepared for a tough, tough game. These guys cut loose for interim coach Orgeron and to add to our problems Marquis Lee is expected to play.
The important thing I learned is the empty backfield that ND employs is ridiculous with an immobile QB and rarely was used by anyone I watched. I did not see any team have trouble getting the call in to the QB, nor did I see the comedy of changing, then re-changing plays. Play in and they go and go fast.
Why is it when I look at Kelly what comes to my mind is a visiting professor – he just looks like he’s just biding his time before he jumps ship. Only problem – he’s gotta WIN. ND is just giving away what they are going to do with the position sets they put in. It’s not only the opponent coaches that pick it up but the players themselves seem to know what’s coming. He’s had 2 weeks – lets see if any improvement – better be.
